UW-Stout's Teaching Adult Learners Certificate is designed to help individuals develop a deeper understanding of adult learners and the related strategies to teach and assess learning in higher education environments. Certificate coursework will cover theories and practices in support of adult learner success, increase teaching and training competency, and build skill in instructional planning, curriculum design, assessment and instructional strategy.
Certificate Objectives
- Develop standards-aligned curriculum that meets the needs of diverse learners and reflects quality curriculum design.
- Demonstrate instructional methods and strategies consistent with adult learner engagement.
- Design assessment of student learning consistent with the performance standards identified in the curriculum.
- Describe adult learning theories and the factors that influence teaching and assessment of adult learners.

- EDUC 403 Educational Psychology of the Adult Learner (3 Credits)

- CTE 605 Teaching Methods in Career and Technical Education (3 Credits)
- CTE 642 Curriculum and Assessment in Career and Technical Education (3 Credits)
- EDPSY 730 Advanced Psychology of Learning for Instruction (2 Credits)
Coursework transferable into M.S. Career and Technical Education degree.
